Gratitude Redux

i mourned another false start the other day. it’s always sort-of-worse when it’s about an idea of what could happen. when you tell yourself a story of what probably-doesn’t-exist and you trip, fall, and skin your knee over it.

oh! ouch!

they have the shirt you wanted but it’s not in your size. your favourite band is on tour but they’re not playing any songs you know. you finally got comfortable but you’re not allowed to sleep.

it's hilarious in the right lens.
devastation’s got a silver lining.

and so gratitude, i choose in consolation. i don’t believe in fate, i believe in absurd sequences-of-events and cosmic jokes of coincidence. in there somewhere i’m laughing, i promise. my heart’s a little bigger today and my universe has shifted.
